Welcome to the Voluntary Action Center (VAC) of Mid-Fairfield! The Voluntary Action Center of Mid Fairfield (VAC) promotes, coordinates and recognizes volunteerism in Norwalk, Westport, Weston and Wilton, Connecticut. Founded in 1981, VAC offers potential volunteers an opportunity to connect with their community by exploring volunteer opportunities that match their interests, skills, and time availability. Volunteers, register and find the right volunteer opportunity for you! For not-for-profit agencies, VAC is the primary source for volunteer recruitment, management, training and recognition. Agencies, register and list your volunteer needs! To the corporate sector, VAC offers the opportunity to support and recognize employee involvement in the community. By promoting volunteerism to meet community needs, VAC connects individuals, groups, the business community, religious groups, government and not-for-profit agencies together to achieve a common goal: To make the Mid-Fairfield area a better place to live and work. What We Do The Voluntary Action Center of Mid-Fairfield (VAC), a program of the Human Services Council, promotes, coordinates and recognizes volunteerism in Norwalk, Westport, Weston and Wilton. The fundamental core of the work of VAC is the personal, individual volunteer interview, conducted at our offices. In addition, we publicize opportunities in the local newspapers and use an Internet connection, Volunteer Solutions, which connects us with many volunteers that we would not reach otherwise. We also attend volunteer fairs, approach companies, service clubs and other organizations in the area to promote volunteerism. Over 160 nonprofit agencies seeking assistance contact VAC for assistance in finding suitable volunteers. We maintain a close relationship with many of these agencies. VAC's annual volunteer recognition events include the Volunteer Recognition
Reception and our Leadership Breakfast, both held during volunteer month in
April. The Corporate Leadership Breakfast recognizes a corporation and a community group for outstanding commitment to promoting community service. Many local corporations, some of who provide sponsorships, thereby making the event a fundraiser as well as a community service, attend the breakfast. |
