For Community Needs

Norwalk, Westport, Weston and Wilton

Founded in 1981, the
Voluntary Action Center of Mid-Fairfield (VAC)
has offered potential
volunteers an opportunity to connect with their community by exploring
volunteer opportunities that match their interests, skills and time
availability. VAC promotes, coordinates and
recognizes volunteerism to meet community needs in
Norwalk, Westport, Weston and Wilton. Services and programs include:
Volunteer
recruitment, interviewing and referrals to more than 150 area agencies.
Time
to Shine, a program that provides opportunities for volunteers with
disabilities and training to agencies using volunteers with disabilities.
Excellence
in Volunteerism, a recognition program for volunteers aimed at
rewarding them and stimulating volunteerism. This encompasses two award
ceremonies each year and a publication featuring those earning awards.
Adult
Volunteers in Action provides a social context for volunteering by
bringing together active adult volunteers for area projects.
Student
Volunteers in Action refers middle school through college students
to appropriate volunteer opportunities.
