Founded in 1981, the Voluntary Action Center of Mid-Fairfield (VAC) has offered potential volunteers an opportunity to connect with their community by exploring volunteer opportunities that match their interests, skills and time availability. VAC promotes, coordinates and recognizes volunteerism to meet community needs in Norwalk, Westport, Weston and Wilton. Services and programs include:

Volunteer recruitment, interviewing and referrals to more than 150 area agencies.

Time to Shine, a program that provides opportunities for volunteers with disabilities and training to agencies using volunteers with disabilities.

Excellence in Volunteerism, a recognition program for volunteers aimed at rewarding them and stimulating volunteerism. This encompasses two award ceremonies each year and a publication featuring those earning awards.

Adult Volunteers in Action provides a social context for volunteering by bringing together active adult volunteers for area projects.

Student Volunteers in Action refers middle school through college students to appropriate volunteer opportunities.
