The
NAPC Board's 2010 Fall Planning Retreat
The meeting took
place October 7-9, 2010, in Oklahoma City.
Board member Blair Schoeb and the United Way of Central Oklahoma
hosted the meeting.
In addition to a very productive work session led by Suzanne
Puryear, President,
Board members participated in a presentation and tour of the
museum and memorial to learn about
how the Oklahoma City community came together in response to the
2005 bombing of the Murrah federal building.
Special thanks to Kari Watkins, Executive Director, and Jackie
Jones, long-time community leader.
NAPC Board members also enjoyed a presentation, tour and luncheon hosted by
Devon Energy Corporation;
VP Alan Marcum described Devon's support for the nonprofit sector and the Oklahoma City
community.

Congratulations and welcome to these leaders. They were elected at the NAPC Annual
Meeting on May 9, 2008, at the Sheraton Sand Key Resort in Clearwater,

Subsequently,
Ed Pulido and Greg Brown left the Board when they changed jobs in
their communities. At the September 2008 Board meeting, Browning
Spence was named Vice President and John Begala was added as a Board

Greg Arcaro, new NAPC member from the planning
council in Yonkers, New York, came to breakfast; he was welcomed by
NAPC President Pam Kestner-Chappelear, and Board members.

Doug Sauer, Executive Director of
the Council of Community Services of New York State,
Inc. (CCSNYS), hosted the meeting
and arranged for a meeting between NAPC and the Ford
Foundation.

Fall Planning Retreat

The NAPC Board of Directors met in Austin, Texas, September 12 -14, 2003 for the
annual fall planning retreat.
The meeting, at the Downtown Holiday Inn, was hosted by board member Fred
Butler, Executive Director of the Community Action Network.
The 2004 national conference, NAPC's new national social indicators
initiative, and membership outreach were among the agenda's highlights.

2002-2003 Board of Directors
The 2002-03 Board members and officers were elected at the Annual Meeting on May 4, 2002, for a
one-year term. The new Board held its organizational meeting in
Washington, DC on Saturday
morning, May 5 (following the Conference), to plan NAPC's work for the coming
year.
Subsequently, Joseph W. Lapilio changed job positions and was
unable to continue as Vice President. The Nominating Committee proposed
Paul Gilmer as Vice-President and his nomination received unanimous approval at
the fall 2002 Board meeting, November 15-17 in Kansas City.
