2008 Membership Form for new & renewing members

Your Invitation to Join NAPC

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT ...

Dear Colleague,

On behalf of the National Association of Planning Councils (NAPC), I am writing to invite you to become a member. We welcome your interest and involvement.

The National Association of Planning Councils consists of forward-thinking organizations throughout the United States that serve as a catalyst for community change by engaging people in creating greater access to quality health and social services and supporting opportunities for all to enter the economic mainstream. We know that your organization shares our interest in building strong and caring communities throughout the country. We do this by supporting planning councils and like organizations across the nation, helping them carry out their mission, connecting them with colleagues, sharing ideas and programs that work, offering consultation and assistance, and holding outstanding conferences for members.

You'll find information about membership, and a New Member Application Form, here on our website. For more information, please feel free to contact me or our Administrator, Sharon Clark.

We look forward to welcoming you as a member in the near future!

Benefits of membership

There has never been a better time to be a member of NAPC!

Every year, NAPC's
National Conference
brings members together to build knowledge and networks
.

NAPC sponsors this website (www.communityplanning.org),
introducing planning councils and quality community planning concepts to people worldwide ... and it includes direct e-mail links to each member, as well as links to members' websites.

NAPC's Members of the Month receive national recognition for their organizations and their work by being featured on the NAPC website.

NAPC's e-newsletter and member bulletins provide timely updates ... about conferences, events, resources, data, publications, trends, and online resources from many national sources.

NAPC builds national dialogues & working relationships with other national groups ... providing members additional avenues for a national presence for their work.

NAPC's exciting national social indicators initiative
... provides powerful new measures of community needs and progress.  Read the report.

NAPC offers information, consultation and training on community planning - history, principles & models ... to clarify and promote the work of planning councils; members can use it with their constituency groups, placing their own organizations' work at the local level in an impressive historical and broad national context.

NAPC surveys its members on high-interest topics
related to community planning, for presentations at the conference and online
.  Some survey results are available only to members.

NAPC still does what it has always done so well:
It provides its members with a network of colleagues

who are engaged in similar kinds of work, and confronting similar challenges, in other communities all across the country ... opening doors for each member to know about, link with, and learn from other experienced practitioners in the complex and rewarding world of community planning.

"NAPC offers the opportunity to learn from and share with colleagues across the country."

Karen Wulfkuhle, Executive Director
United Community Services of Johnson County - Lenexa, Kansas

"NAPC is our link to colleagues around the country. It provides an opportunity to get fresh ideas and information on common problems. As technology makes the world smaller, it is increasingly important to understand how local issues vary and converge in different communities, and how others are addressing those issues. NAPC is a quiet, cost-effective medium that makes this possible."

John A. Begala, Executive Director
Federation for Community Planning - Cleveland, Ohio

"Our membership in NAPC has broadened our exposure to national trends and innovation. Regular meetings with other Planning Councils energize and encourage us to work harder and smarter to achieve the desired outcomes of critical social planning. Citing membership in the NAPC on all our printed material adds credence to our position in the local market and underscores the importance of Planning Council activities."

Mary Louis Campbell, President
The Planning Council - Norfolk, Virginia

Membership Categories & Dues

NAPC recently revised its membership categories to better include participation by interested individuals and by various kinds of organizations which are not traditional planning councils but wish to affiliate with NAPC.  Interested individuals are also welcome.

Organizational Members
The NAPC member dues rate is tied to the organization’s total annual budget (see chart on membership form).

Individual Members

Sustaining, Contributing, and Supporting Members are member organizations whose leaders believe strongly in NAPC and choose to pay dues at higher levels ($1500, $750, $500) to support NAPC's work.

Checks may be made payable to the National Association of Planning Councils and mailed to: NAPC, 11118 Ferndale Road, Dallas, TX 75238, along with the 2008 Membership Form for new & renewing members.

Organizations who are NAPC members at the time of the annual conference qualify for the discounted "Members" conference registration fee, plus substantial discounts for additional people attending from your organization.

NAPC welcomes your interest and involvement.  We encourage you to join us!

NAPC wishes to be able to offer partial conference scholarships to help new or smaller councils, or others facing financial challenges, to attend the national conference. Members are invited to make voluntary contributions to this fund; this may be done along with membership renewal or at any time.
