WHO WE ARE...

A partnership of concerned individuals and organizations addressing substance abuse problems within the towns of Norwalk, Westport, Weston and Wilton.

MISSION...

To bring the community together to collaborate on preventing substance abuse and addressing addiction.

MFSAC brings recognition and resources to the region to address substance abuse and its effect on the community through...

Education
Awareness
Enhanced addiction services and community action


IN
2003...

MFSAC provided alcohol server training to area establishments and organized education for over 1,300 high school students on the dangers of underage drinking
MFSAC organized and oversaw the operation of the Community Service Academy, planned a regional Orange Ribbon campaign and provided diversity training to community agencies’ staff and youth groups
MFSAC created and sponsored the Safe Ride Program

Assess the needs of the region:

Identify the problem
Point out gaps in service
Determine the most urgent needs
Urge changes in public policy, where appropriate
Prepare an action plan for the region
Act as a catalyst for funding programs
Develop a regional planning process
Ensure a focused effort directed to:

Prevention
Intervention
Treatment
Aftercare

Connecticut Prevention Network

Do you want to learn more about community coalitions tackling substance abuse and related issues such as violence, gambling, asset building, etc.?  The Connecticut Prevention Network is a coalition of substance abuse coalitions, and has been recognized by CSAP as a national model. The Network has brought millions of dollars to Connecticut to prevent substance abuse and has mobilized local communities and statewide groups in a wide range of prevention efforts.   (The Substance Abuse Coalition of Mid-Fairfield is among the Network's independently operated member organizations).
