This gathering of outstanding professionals explored the gap between national social-indicator projects using largely national-level data and community social-indicator projects using community-specific data. The morning session was spent achieving a common understanding of "who's doing what" about social indicators, and exploring how work at the national and local levels affect each other. The group readily agreed that an on-going dialogue was needed between these efforts. Those working at the national level felt the need to have a connection to those working on indicators and instituting best practices at the local level.
